Makeup Academy Undress Your Skin - Shimmer Highlighter

Hi Beauty Lover!,

I recently saw MUA Undress Your Skin – Shimmer Highlighter mentioned on Taupe and Pearl’s post (link here to see the post).

As I have been on the lookout for a highlighter to add to my collection, I thought this would be a great one to try. This is an amazing value product as it’s only £3.00, and with its embossed pan, looks seriously more high-end! How could I refuse it….!

As you can see from the swatch it has a lovely glossy pink shimmer, with no large glitter particles to make it sparkly and a little definitely goes a long way.

This is perfect to highlight the tops of my cheeks, my cupids bow and down the centre of my nose to make me look awake and healthy without being overly frosty.

As it’s not so finely milled there is very little fallout, which is great as you don’t want it going everywhere!

I know Kirsty had a problem with the lid of her highlighter, but so far mine is holding up ok.  The only slight con to this would be that this could highlight any large pores if you were to apply too much or having a bad skin day.

This was purchased at Superdrugs £3.00 7.5g, but can be also be purchase online at MUA.

Do you have this highlighter? What are your views on it?

Lash-tastic…. Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

Hi Beauty Lover!,

This is the Maybelline Mega plush Volum’ Express Mascara (bit of a mouthful! eh?!).

When I first started using this, I didn’t like it at all!.The mascara I used prior to this was the Max Factor Clump Defy and that had a firm small brush.

The Mega Plush is the complete opposite, it has a massive brush head, a flexible wand (as they say to caress each eyelash) and I really didn’t get on with it, but I always like a challenge so persevered.

Well, after a while I realised that I was liking the mascara just a little bit more, the formula itself is a gel mousse (although to me it doesn’t look any different to other formula’s), but I find it does not flake or clump and removes really easily (but I am using the non-waterproof version).

You can intensify the look of your lashes with extra coats, but apply each coat when still wet.

The look isn’t overly dramatic, so if you are looking for a full fake lash effect for a night out, then maybe this wouldn’t be the mascara for you, but it does a great job for daytime mascara.

Would I repurchase? Probably not as I said before the head is quite big, and I find it very fiddly to get my lower lashes with this brush, and end up getting mascara on my skin, which I then have to remove with a cotton bud, not the end of the world, but just a pain.

You can purchase the Mega Plush Mascara at Boots for £7.99.

Do you own the Mega Plush Mascara? What do you think of it?

Canada Haul – Part 2 (MAC)

Beauty Lover Canada Haul #2

Hi Beauty Lover,

So this is the second and last installment of my haul’s from Canada (if you missed my first it’s here – haul #1).

As you can see I like a neutral colour, and I certainly will not be needing a mid toned brown for a while ;).

I had been gathering a list of eye shadows to get from MAC when away from tutorials on YouTube and Bloglovin’.  I found that these colour’s apart from Rose and the cream colour base,  are strangely not available in the UK (but if I am wrong, please someone correct me).

Luckily the hotel I was staying at in Vancouver was just down the road from the MAC Pro Store, and it would have been totally rude not to have gone in….

The goodies I purchased were:

MAC Rose – This is a Pro product, and is a darker more intense version of Da Bling.  In the light it has a slight blue sheen to it, which is gorgeous.

MAC Brown Script – This is a Matt² finish, and is a lovely warm chestnut colour and super pigmented, so a little goes a long way.

MAC Texture – This is a Velvet finish, and blends really well with a lovely soft texture.  It is a peachy-brown colour has the tiniest amount of shimmer, but you can not see it once applied to the eye lid.  A fab crease colour.

MAC Saddle – This is a Matt finish, and lovely golden/orange toned brown.  It blends out beautifully and is another great crease colour, especially for those with baby blues, this really makes your eye’s pop!

MAC Soft Brown – Another Matt finish, I use this as my transition colour in the crease.  It’s such a lovely light texture and again blends really easily and builds up in colour nicely.

MAC Motif – This is a frost finish.  This is a strange, but beautiful colour, in the pan it looks like a golden-peachy-tan colour, but upon application, the duo-chrome pink comes out to play.  This is a lovely colour and blends out nicely and works well with purples, browns and pinks.

MAC Cream Colour Base – Shell – This is such a versatile product, it wasn’t the colour that I wanted, which was unfortunately out of stock, but I am really happy with this colour.  It’s a soft pink-beige with a shimmer.

It is actually a firmer product than I thought it was going to be, so will last a long time.

It’s perfect for highlighting cheek bones, the brow bone, cupids bow and inner tear duct for a subtle sheen, and I use my fingers to apply the product.  I would definitely purchase some of the other colours in this range.

I hope you liked my little haul.

Do you have any of these products? What are your favourite mid toned browns?

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon

Hi Beauty Lover!,

I was perusing the shelves in Superdrugs as you do…, as I was on the look out for a new lippy, when I saw the Bourjois Colour Boost Glossy Lip Crayon, they come in 4 colours Peach on the Beach, Orange Punch, Red Sunrise and Fuschia Libre.

I couldn’t decide which colour to go for, so as Superdrugs are doing a special offer of buy 1 get the 2nd half price, well I decided to get all 4 shades!

They are glossy, non-sticky, hydrating, super pigmented and with an SPF of 15 it will protect your lips and keep them looking lovely.  They also have no taste/smell, which can be very strong on some lipsticks!

They do claim that they last 10 hours, which I found on my lips was not the case, they lasted for a maximum of 3/4 as they leave a slight tint on the lips, but easy to reapply.

My favourite in this range is Orange Punch, it’s not as scary orange once on your lips, but I highly recommend all of them.

These are priced at £7.99

Do you use these lip crayons?  What’s your favourite colour?

Purple Power

Hello Beauty Lover!,

I have been loving the looks that I have seen on Heather Davern Makeup blog, especially the purple’s.  So decided I needed some purples in my life!

After a quick look on my favourite site to see what blends well together, I settled for MAC’s Seedy Pearl, Plum Dressing and Nocturnelle, unfortunately, they had run out of Seedy Pearl, so the lovely MAC MUA suggested Yogurt as a close alternative.

Aren’t they pretty?!

(L-R) Yogurt. Plum Dressing. Nocturnelle

Swatches on NW20 skin (L-R) MAC Yogurt, MAC Plum Dressing, MAC Nocturnelle

I promise you they are the same shadow’s!  It’s amazing how different they look once swatched, but bear in mind that when I swatched them,  it was a lovely grey day in UK and I didn’t use any primer to fix.

MAC Yogurt – This is a soft matt pale pink shade. Does take a little building to get it to show, but is a lovely shade and great for blending out other purples and pinks!.

MAC Plum Dressing – This is a beautiful purply-plum-pink shade, and in the MAC veluxe pearl finish, so not too matt and not too shimmery.  This is easily buildable and blendable with a nice smooth texture.

MAC Nocturnelle – This is a  MAC Frost finish and MAC’s definition is pinked-up chrome purple and that’s exactly what it is.  It builds nicely for a smokey eye and works with lots of different colour, such as browns, blues and silvers.

With all of these shades, there is not too much fallout, which is always good :)

What are your favourite purple shades?

MAC Creme Cup – Cremesheen Lipstick

Hey all,

This is my second lipstick from MAC (also I feel not the last either!) My first was MAC Russian Red.  This is a very popular colour in the MAC cremesheen range.

This is such a super gorgeous neutral light pink colour with blue undertones and suits my pale skin, although on swatches I have seen on the internet, it does look like it suits different skin tones too.

It glides onto the lips beautifully almost like a balm texture and smells lovely too, very sweet like cookies (must try not to eat it!).

My only con to this lipstick although it’s a cremesheen lipstick if you have dry lips then this does like to settle into any cracks or dry bits so keep your lips exfoliated and hydrated and you will have no problems.

MAC Creme Cup

The pigmentation on the MAC Creme Cup is good and lasts on my lips for about 2 hours, so not long lasting but has a nice slightly glossy sheen too, so if you don’t mind reapplying I would highly recommend this lipstick

Do you own Creme Cup? what are you thoughts about it?
