Lash-tastic…. Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

Hi Beauty Lover!,

This is the Maybelline Mega plush Volum’ Express Mascara (bit of a mouthful! eh?!).

When I first started using this, I didn’t like it at all!.The mascara I used prior to this was the Max Factor Clump Defy and that had a firm small brush.

The Mega Plush is the complete opposite, it has a massive brush head, a flexible wand (as they say to caress each eyelash) and I really didn’t get on with it, but I always like a challenge so persevered.

Well, after a while I realised that I was liking the mascara just a little bit more, the formula itself is a gel mousse (although to me it doesn’t look any different to other formula’s), but I find it does not flake or clump and removes really easily (but I am using the non-waterproof version).

You can intensify the look of your lashes with extra coats, but apply each coat when still wet.

The look isn’t overly dramatic, so if you are looking for a full fake lash effect for a night out, then maybe this wouldn’t be the mascara for you, but it does a great job for daytime mascara.

Would I repurchase? Probably not as I said before the head is quite big, and I find it very fiddly to get my lower lashes with this brush, and end up getting mascara on my skin, which I then have to remove with a cotton bud, not the end of the world, but just a pain.

You can purchase the Mega Plush Mascara at Boots for £7.99.

Do you own the Mega Plush Mascara? What do you think of it?

Budget Perfume – Zara Femme EDT 50ml

Zara Femme EDT

Hi Beauty Lover!,

I was browsing the lovely clothes of Zara’s a few weeks back, when I noticed a woman spraying herself with perfume in the shop, I then got a sudden whiff of the perfume and instantly loved it!

I hadn’t realised Zara had branched off on to the perfume side of beauty (I really must get out more!).

This is such a gorgeous scent and I would say in a blindfold test you would think that it was a high-end perfume.  It is has a slightly floral/vanilla top note with a sophisticated musky base note.

The longevity of this perfume is good, on me it lasts a good 4 hours before having to reapply, but then I do like to spray it on all my pulse points for maximum effect :)

This is sold at a bargainous price of £7.99 for 50mls, and they also sell it as a roller-ball version, which I will get next time I am in Zara, so that I have a handy version for my bag.

It is not the most prettiest of bottles, but for the price what can you ask for!

Have you tried any of the Zara perfumes?  and what is your favourite budget perfume?

Canada Haul – Part 2 (MAC)

Beauty Lover Canada Haul #2

Hi Beauty Lover,

So this is the second and last installment of my haul’s from Canada (if you missed my first it’s here – haul #1).

As you can see I like a neutral colour, and I certainly will not be needing a mid toned brown for a while ;).

I had been gathering a list of eye shadows to get from MAC when away from tutorials on YouTube and Bloglovin’.  I found that these colour’s apart from Rose and the cream colour base,  are strangely not available in the UK (but if I am wrong, please someone correct me).

Luckily the hotel I was staying at in Vancouver was just down the road from the MAC Pro Store, and it would have been totally rude not to have gone in….

The goodies I purchased were:

MAC Rose – This is a Pro product, and is a darker more intense version of Da Bling.  In the light it has a slight blue sheen to it, which is gorgeous.

MAC Brown Script – This is a Matt² finish, and is a lovely warm chestnut colour and super pigmented, so a little goes a long way.

MAC Texture – This is a Velvet finish, and blends really well with a lovely soft texture.  It is a peachy-brown colour has the tiniest amount of shimmer, but you can not see it once applied to the eye lid.  A fab crease colour.

MAC Saddle – This is a Matt finish, and lovely golden/orange toned brown.  It blends out beautifully and is another great crease colour, especially for those with baby blues, this really makes your eye’s pop!

MAC Soft Brown – Another Matt finish, I use this as my transition colour in the crease.  It’s such a lovely light texture and again blends really easily and builds up in colour nicely.

MAC Motif – This is a frost finish.  This is a strange, but beautiful colour, in the pan it looks like a golden-peachy-tan colour, but upon application, the duo-chrome pink comes out to play.  This is a lovely colour and blends out nicely and works well with purples, browns and pinks.

MAC Cream Colour Base – Shell – This is such a versatile product, it wasn’t the colour that I wanted, which was unfortunately out of stock, but I am really happy with this colour.  It’s a soft pink-beige with a shimmer.

It is actually a firmer product than I thought it was going to be, so will last a long time.

It’s perfect for highlighting cheek bones, the brow bone, cupids bow and inner tear duct for a subtle sheen, and I use my fingers to apply the product.  I would definitely purchase some of the other colours in this range.

I hope you liked my little haul.

Do you have any of these products? What are your favourite mid toned browns?

Canada Haul – Part 1

This is my first haul post and will be a two-part :)

Canada Haul

1. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind – Eraser Dark Circles – Light/Pale

We have this in this Country but its called “The Eraser Eye” and we only have 2 shades, nude and medium, where as they have 6 shades in Canada! Hopefully we will be getting more colours to the range in the future.

This has a lovely foam applicator, and it is very light in texture and sets fairly quickly so you need to work quickly.

£7.99 Superdrug link

2. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – 604 Milk and 608 Cottage Cheese

These have been coveted products that I have seen on the blogsphere for a while now, so when I saw them in Rexell in Vancouver I jumped at the chance to get my hands on them!

You can use them as an eyeliner or eyeshadow, or for a base for your eyeshadow to really pop on top!

£5.00 You can now get them over here at NYX Cosmetics.

3. EOS Lip Balm – Summer Fruit

These are very cute lip balms that are great for keeping in your handbag and with 100% natural ingredients and 95% being organic, what more can you ask for a lip balm!

These are available on Amazon, but I personally wouldn’t pay £2.55 for the lip balm, when we have great balm’s in this country, but if you do manage to see EOS on your travels, I would suggest another flavour as it is not the nicest, and smells a little bit like plastic!

4. Covergirl Clump Crusher by Lashblast Mascara – 805 Black

We do not have Covergirl in this country, and this is a product that is mentioned a lot on YouTube video’s.

To my the brush is very similar to the Max Factor Clump Defy that you can get here, but I had heard such good things about the Covergirl Clump Crusher, that I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity of getting one for myself.

5. Aveeno Positively Ageless Day Lotion SPF 30 75mls

Although this classes itself as a lotion, I would say it is more of a cream.

The active ingredient is Shitake Mushroom extract, which is supposed to reverse the visible signs of aging for younger looking skin, it also comes with an SPF of 30.  It does mention UVA, but not sure what level that is.

I will do a more in-depth review on this product, once I have used it for a little while.

This can be purchased via Amazon for just over £21.00.

6. Pantene Pro-V Gel Curly Hair

I first heard about this via the lovely Zabrena at My Eyeshadow Consultant, who raved about how good this was for her curly hair.  Then I found out that we can’t get it here in the UK only via Amazon.

Why, oh why does Pantene not sell this here….! *sobs uncontrollably*

I have used it a few times now, and totally agree with Zabrena, the products that I have found here for curly hair are not a patch on this baby!, so once my supply from Canada dries up, it’s Amazon for me!

You can purchase a 3 pack of this gel on Amazon for £16.87 + £7.49 postage, which is a lot of money for hair products, but it really does work at keeping your hair nice and curly, with no frizz or that horrible crunchy feel that you get with some gels.

If there is anything on this haul, that you would like me to review in more depth, just let me know in the comments below.  Hope you liked my little haul from Canada.

Emma Hardie Amazing Face – Review

Emma Hardie Amazing Face

Hi Beauty Lover,

If you follow beauty bloggers, you will not have failed to see untold mentions of Emma Hardie and her Amazing Face products.

Since becoming an avid fan of Ms Hirons, I now follow her tips on double cleansing in the evening’s and use this balm as my first cleanser of the evening.

I bought the above set from QVC Emma Hardie 3 piece collection which is £49.00 & P&P, which is quite a lot of money, but the balm cleanser alone at Emma Hardie is £34.00 for 100ml, the Rejuvenating Night Cream is £39.00 for 50ml and the Age Support Moisturiser is £42.00 for 50ml,  with a combined saving of £66.00, when purchased via QVC.

Emma Hardie – Moringa Face Balm – 100ml

This is such a luxurious golden balm, and smells absolutely divine, with a mouth-watering citrus scent.  It melts really easily into the hands and spreads onto the skin wonderfully.

After a few minutes massaging the balm into the skin, it get’s rid of all the makeup and grime that has built up on the skin throughout the day.

It is full of essential oils such as Orange, Neroli, Rose and Jasmine, and obviously Moringa seed extract, combined with wild fennel seed to help balance and purify .

Emma Hardie – Rejuvenating Night Cream – 50ml

This is a lovely thick cream, but sinks in beautifully without leaving a heavy feeling on the skin or looking greasy, and is great to finish off your evening cleansing routine beautifully.

This has lots of lovely ingredients with this wonderful cream including Platinum (who’d have thought!) which helps to provide deeper skin penetration for the peptides Sahelian Algae Extract.  Melissa, Pumpkin extracts, essential oils of Geranium and Rose, also essential fatty acids to nourish the skin.

Emma Hardie – Age Support Treatment Cream – 50ml

This cream is lighter in texture compared to the night cream and can be used both morning and evening. It’s super hydrating, so you only need a little bit, as it can make you look a bit greasy if you over do it.

Also, full of marine and botanical extracts, and the much talked about Hyaluronic Acid for its skin plumping and hydrating properties.

Like the other balm and cream, it is full of essential oils that makes it smell wonderful, in this cream they include Rose Geranium, Chamomile, Sweet Orange, Lavender and Peppermint.  The scent is subtle and not over powering like some products.

Also, In the pack I got a dual action micro-fibre face cloth, and to be honest I didn’t really get on with this, so I stuck with my trusted face cloths to remove the balm, which removes easily and doesn’t leave a horrible film on your skin.

This is such a great value set from QVC, compared to buying separately and I would highly recommend Emma Hardie products to all at any age, but especially to those that are looking for more anti-aging properties.

The only minor irritation I had with this, is that the lid of the face balm arrived cracked and has now fully broken :(.

Q: Have you used Emma Hardie? What is your favourite product from her range?

The Autumn Tag

Autumn Leaf

The lovely Charlotte from Looks 2b Loved tagged me in her Autumn Tag.

I was so thrilled, as I have only been blogging for a short while and this is my first of hopefully many tags (tag virgin!).

For Autumn, what is your….

Favourite thing about it?

For me I love when the leaves start turning their gorgeous golds, oranges and yellows.  I also love that the weather has started to cool down, although I love sunbathing and having the heat of Summer, it’s just nice to have a change of season.

To me there is nothing better than a cold crisp autumn morning and blue skies, beautiful…

Favourite drink?

It has to be hot chocolate for me, and if I am feeling a little naughty, a squirt of cream on the top and a Baileys shot in it too. Yum, Yum!

Favourite Scent/Candle?

I use candle’s all year round, but more so in the Autumn/Winter, my favourite scent is Vanilla as I find a lot of the other scents get a bit much and sickly after awhile.

Best Lipstick?

That’s a tough one as I like so many. MAC is my all time favourite brand and I know this might sound stupid but I like the smell and taste of them so reach for them the most, I love Creme Cup for my go to nude and Russian Red for when I am looking for a vampy look.

But I have also been loving the new Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon’s, this is my first time delving into the crayon lipsticks, and they have been excellent, especially for the price.

Go to moisturiser?

For my daytime facial moisturiser I love Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, it’s not too heavy and keep’s my combination skin in check and doesn’t make my T-Zone go crazily shiny.

Evening wise, I have been loving Emma Hardie’s Rejuvenating Night Cream, it uses lots of lovely ingredients to help fight the signs of aging, which now that I am 40, I need…

For my body, it’s got to be the lovely body butter’s from Body Shop, and I especially love Olive Body Butter.

Go to colour for the eyes?

Up until recently I would only use only one eyeshadow and that was MAC’s Sable, although it’s a gorgeous colour, I was very bored with it!.

But since finding My Eyeshadow Consultant, I have now got into using lots of different colours such as purples and pinks as well as neutrals.

My favourite’s in pinks and purples has to be MAC’s Cranberry, Expensive Pink, Mythology, Nocturnelle and Plum Dressing. Which will be great for the lovely Autumn colours that are coming out.

Favourite music or band/singer to listen to?

For favourite band i’m sorry (actually i’m not really sorry!) it has to be Take That, I know, I know…, but I have liked them since the first time around!

But I do have quite an eclectic mix of tastes, and like bands like Florence & the Machine, Snow Patrol, Faithless, Swedish House Mafia and even a bit of Snoop Dog!.

On my recent holiday, we had this one station that played the same tunes over and over…., but there was a couple that I really loved and they were Chocolate by 1975 and Classic MKTO, so now have them in my collection :)

Favourite outfit?

I am normally in Jeans, but I do like to wear in the change of seasons from Summer to Autumn thick woollen tights and knitted dresses.

Autumn treat (What do you have your eye on)?

Well this list is very long…, so I will give you the condensed version! (that is the problem with watching YouTube videos and following other bloggers, you get more idea’s to add to the ever growing list…!)

I have been on the search for a perfect foundation, and I like the look of the Laura Mercier Silk Foundation or the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, these both look like excellent one’s but both are definitely the high end price range.

I also want to add to my small MAC lipstick collection with Plumful, See Sheer and Blankety. I have been hankering for the Clarisonic Mia 2 and asked Hubby if he will get it for Christmas for me, so we will see…

So I hope you enjoyed my first tag and that I didn’t bore you!

Psst your it…  So I’m tagging you for this post, so don’t forget to leave your link below in the comments so that I can read it.
